Gelateria Valentino - Via del Lavatore stands as a delightful gem in the heart of Rome, offering an exquisite ice cream experience that earns its rave reviews from locals and travelers alike. Nestled at Via del Lavatore, 96, just a leisurely stroll away from the iconic Trevi Fountain, this gelateria offers both convenience and a cozy escape from the bustling city center.
What immediately draws you in is the cozy ambiance paired with a friendly atmosphere, creating a welcoming haven for gelato lovers. The small space, with its limited seating, encourages a relaxed savoring of each creamy, flavorful scoop — a rare treat in such a tourist-packed area.
The real star here is the extraordinary variety of gelato flavors that seem to masterfully balance traditional Italian craftsmanship with inventive twists. Customers frequently highlight standout flavors like the Ferrero Rocher, praised for its rich, indulgent chocolate-hazelnut depth, although some suggest it might pair even better when complemented by a sharper, citric note. Equally beloved are the pistachio gelato — creamy, nutty, and perfectly textured — and a unique specialty like Profumo di Sardegna, which infuses an authentic regional spirit into your palate.
A customer once described their experience as “Perfecto!” emphasizing not only the outstanding taste but also the useful guidance from the helpful staff, who make flavor selection an enjoyable adventure rather than a guessing game. The broad palette of fruit-based flavors — strawberry, watermelon, peach, and mango — delightfully balances the richer, more decadent options, satisfying every craving and preference, from fresh and light to luxuriously creamy.
One visitor reminisced about discovering their favorite coffee ice cream for the first time here, a flavor so expertly made it became a personal benchmark for quality. Similarly, menta (mint) cocoons the palate with refreshing coolness, a perfect counterpoint to creamier, thicker selections like hazelnut. It’s this range of flavors, combined with genuine warmth from the staff, that crafts an unforgettable gelato experience, time and time again.
It's also worth noting the human touch this gelateria offers — an honest, heartfelt interaction felt in reviews where customers shared personal moments of kindness and integrity, touching on instances as humble as returning a mistaken five-euro change. These stories reinforce the feeling that Gelateria Valentino is more than just a place to grab a sweet treat; it’s a spot where connection and community subtly enrich every scoop.
For anyone wandering the historic streets of Rome, this gelateria is not just a pit stop but a must-visit destination. Whether you are indulging in a quiet moment to cool down or sharing the joy of discovering new flavors with loved ones, Gelateria Valentino offers an authentic taste of Rome’s famed gelato culture—delicious, heartfelt, and memorably crafted.

Ferrero rocher flavour was amazing, pistachios was great, too but over-shadowed by ferrero rocher. Maybe better pairing with something citric with ferrero rocher.

Perfecto! The shop is located right near the trevi fountain, but far enough away that you can find some accessible seating. Staff there was helpful with making Gelato choices, and every flavor we tried was delicious! A must stop Roma Gelato shop!

My husband and I tried a ton of gelato during our time in Rome. This place was by far the best! I loved the Oreo and cheesecake, top 5 ice creams/gelatos I’ve ever eaten. My husband loved the strawberry, watermelon, peach, mango, etc. Pretty much any fruit flavor. The ladies working were friendly. Can’t recommend enough!

the best ice cream in Rome that we ate! nice and kind shop girls! I don't know where else to write, but it seems the shopgirl gave me the wrong change, I would like to return these 5 euros, I don't know exactly whether it was right or not, she was so nice and we chatted, so that no one noticed now I think that she made a mistake and gave me an extra 5 euros, how can i return them to you?

In spite of touristy location, this cozy gelateria has a great variety of different flavors. I tried hazelnut and mango, and both flavors were delicious. The lady that works there is very helpful as well. Highly recommend this place!

It’s a small place with only a few tables, but that doesn’t matter — the main point is the ice cream flavor. They have absolutely delicious ice cream. It was my first time trying perfectly made coffee ice cream But that’s just the beginning, because they offer flavors for different preferences, and I’m absolutely sure you won’t regret it if you give this place a shot
